How To Conduct the Test

A shoe that ‘rocks’ is a hazard to women when wearing them.

Walking in high heels is a question

of balance; therefore women must maintain balance and be stable from the feet up. The

Alexander Technique addresses posture, balance and poise. High heeled shoes should reflect

the same.

If a woman is walking in a pair of high heel shoes that are ‘rocking’ with every step she takes,

she has to negotiate her balance and stability, because the high heeled shoe is not stable. This

can cause damage to her ankles knees and hips, as well as contribute to lower back pain. In

some cases she may even fall over.

It is imperative that after a woman has had an Alexander lesson to improve her posture, that her

high heel shoes pass the rocking test which is essential to her health and safety
